What the scores mean

The test runs Google Lighthouse, the same engine behind PageSpeed Insights. Each of the four categories gets a score out of 100.

90–100Good
Fast and well built. Keep it that way.
50–89Needs work
Usable, but visitors on phones notice the wait.
0–49Poor
People are likely leaving before the page finishes loading.
Performance
How quickly the page shows up and responds on a mid-range phone over a cellular connection.
Accessibility
Whether people using screen readers, keyboards or larger text can use the page.
Best practices
Security and code health: HTTPS, no browser errors, no outdated libraries.
SEO
The basics Google needs to read and list the page: titles, descriptions, crawlable links.

Why speed matters for Google

Google uses page experience, including how fast a page loads on a phone, as one of the signals for ranking. It matters more for people than for rankings, though. When a page takes more than a few seconds, a large share of mobile visitors give up and go back to the search results, where your competitor is one tap away.

The usual culprits

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no charge and no account. We ask for your email so we can follow up if you want help.

Why does my score change between runs?

Lighthouse measures a real page load, and network and server timing vary a little each time. A few points either way is normal.

Will you contact me?

Only about your result, and only once, unless you ask for help. We never sell or share your email.

Does this test my whole website?

It tests the one page you enter. Start with your home page, since that is where most visitors land.

Why mobile?

Most local searches happen on phones, and the mobile test is the stricter of the two.
